The BBC has produced a great series called Britain on a Bike and the first episode is about the coastline around the Hotel. There is some fantastic photography as well as interesting parts on the history of the Lynmouth floods and the history of our local beach, Woody Bay

We found out today that as a result of fantastic reviews from our customers, we have entered the Top 10 Best Rated Hotels in England at Number 3! Have a look at www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Tourism-g186217-England-Vacations
We have had some lovely reviews on Tripadvisor - great customer feedback is the icing on the cake for us………… We were particularly touched by this one from some guests who stayed in May 2010!
The hotel is beautifully decorated, it is immaculate. The rooms are especially classy. The food is of a standard which far exceeds any other hotel outside of London - brilliant. The best value for money in a long time. We came back refreshed and inspired!
We are Travellers’ Choice Award Winners 2010 and are the 11th best hotel in the UK. You can read our reviews here:
We have been included in The TIme Out Magazine Guide to Devon & Cornwall for the first time - a guide which recommends the very best places to visit and stay in Devon & Cornwall to style conscuious people

This is what they say about the Hotel:
“The south west coast path lies at the end of the garden of this delightfull Georgian Rectory, which is flanked by National Trust owned land.
Its 8 bedrooms have glorious views over the sea or the garden and are furnished with rich fabrics and antiques. Flatscreen TV’s, wi-fi and White Company Products add to the air of understated luxury.
Candlelit 4 course dinners are available while the former stables have been converted into self catering cottages combining period features with modern comfort to great effect”
We are pleased that we have been able to accommodate several “refugees” who have been unable to fly out of the country who have switched last minute to a holiday in Exmoor. This has been North Devon’s gain and Egypt, Lisbon and Italy’s loss - every “cloud” has a silver lining!

We had our Michelin Inspection this morning and are thrilled to have been classified as a 1 Red Pavillon in the 2010 guide!
This Red Pavillon denotes a “particulalry pleasant or restful establishment - the character of the building, its decor, the setting, the welcome and services provided all contribute to this special appeal”
Last year there were only 16 of these establishments in the whole of England! We are, of course, delighted!
Here at The Old Rectory Hotel, we are at last in the final stages of the refurbishment and we are now enjoying all the nice bits and putting things back together ready for the imminent arrival of guests eager to enjoy the scenery and special atmosphere of Exmoor National Park.
The newly done Hotel rooms are looking fabulous with their designer Jane Churchill wallpaper and Colefax and Fowler fabric now in situ. Must get some photos up on the site as soon as we have a nice day. Really delighted with how it looks!
We are absolutely thrilled that there is evidence of otters in the trout pond in The Old Rectory Hotel garden. Exmoor National Park Authority monitor otter activity in the area and now believe that otters are now returning to the majority of water courses on Exmoor

Following our ranking in this year’s Tripadvisor awards, the North Devon Gazette wrote a great article about us:
