How we will protect our staff and guests moving forward

Minimising the risk of Covid-19 at The Old Rectory Hotel

We’re following Government guidance closely and continue to monitor the COVID-19 situation. Carefully balancing getting back to what we do best and the measures for which we have become renowned is our priority. Therefore, some precautions will remain in place for a little longer to help keep you, our other guests and our staff feeling safe.

  1. We support both our guests and our staff if they wish to continue to wear a face mask, although this is no longer compulsory.
  2. Our hand sanitiser that leaves your hands cleansed and smelling great too will continue to be freely available at various locations in the hotel
  3. Whilst social distancing is no longer mandatory, furniture in the hotel is positioned with safety in mind


  1. What should I do if I think I have Covid-19 and have a visit booked?
    We politely request that you call us to postpone your visit if you are displaying any symptoms Covid-19.
  2. Will I have to wear a face covering in the hotel?
    It is not compulsory to wear a face covering in the hotel, although we support our guests and staff who would like to wear one.
  3. What will happen if you think a visitor has Covid-19 in the hotel?
    We have the right to refuse entry to the hotel and politely ask any guests or team members to leave who are showing signs of being unwell. We have a non-contact temperature check at reception for guests who may feel concerned they are unwell. However, we ask that if any visitor feels unwell before arrival, they postpone their visit and notify us. 
  4. Will you be able to assist me with my luggage on arrival and departure?
    We are always happy to help and will ensure we do so with your safety in mind. If you need assistance, please let us know.
  5. Is the hotel providing guests with additional sanitising facilities?
    Yes, we have set up hand sanitising stations throughout the hotel for you. We have a hospital grade ozone sanitising machine and every bedroom is fully sanitised on a weekly basis
  6. What measures have you put in place with your Staff to minimise the spread of Covid-19?
    All our staff have undergone comprehensive hospitality-focused training on preventing the spread of Covid-19. They are encouraged to take two rapid lateral flow tests a week to ensure they test negativeAny Crew member who shows symptoms, including at their daily temperature check upon arrival for work, will be immediately sent home and required to self-isolate for the recommended time before returning to work. In addition, all Crew are required to self-certify that they have not been in contact with anyone with Covid-19 symptoms.

Our people: Training, Hygiene and Protection

  1. Our team has undergone hospitality-focused training on how to prevent the contagion of  Covid-19.
  2. All staff will be temperature checked upon arrival at work and will be required to self-certify that they have not been in contact with anyone with Covid-19 symptoms each day.
  3. Any staff member who shows symptoms will be immediately sent home and will be required to self-isolate for 14 days prior to returning to work.
  4. Internal regulations have been introduced that require our staff to wear the appropriate PPE during their shifts and to wash their hands frequently.
  5. Hand sanitising stations are located at all entry and exit points back of house for the teams to use.
  6. All kitchen staff will work adhering to the 2 meter social distancing guidance.

Our operating procedures are clearly displayed through out the back of house areas.
