There are many reasons why we enjoy running The Old Rectory Hotel, including the stunning Exmoor location, the bountiful acres of gardens and working with our loyal team of staff to create a welcoming place to stay. However, our greatest pleasure is meeting so many interesting people. It is a joy to greet returning guests who come back as old friends, and to offer new visitors the chance to relax and enjoy our peaceful, stunning surroundings, great food and warm hospitality.
How quickly time passes and now, in our twelfth year here, we are overjoyed by how the place has evolved over the years into the much loved boutique hotel we have today. Restoration and refurbishments of the house and our glorious gardens continue as ever, which we hope you will enjoy when you come and stay.
Earlier this year we were absolutely delighted to have been listed in the Top 25 Most Romantic Hotels in the World and the Best 25 Small Hotels in the UK in the Travellers Choice Awards by Tripadvisor. An amazing result, as it is based on feedback from our customers, who are at the heart of everything we do. We were thrilled to have been awarded “Best Small and Intimate Property” from Conde Naste Johansens in recognition of our longevity and continuous excellent customer service. Visit England awarded us Gold – Best Small Hotel in England in 2014.
We hope that you will make yourself at home here – perhaps hunker down in our fabulous Orangery with a book or board game or enjoy a quiet drink in our idyllic Garden before tucking into fantastic local food in The Hollowbrook Dining Room. There are many wonderful walks nearby and we’re happy to offer advice on where to go and what to see and do in and around Exmoor National Park and North Devon.
