Reduce energy by switching off lights when you leave your room and by closing windows if the heating is on. Eat Local, Buy Local and See Local
We always try and encourage our guests to support local producers and service to experience the true flavour of what North Devon and Exmoor has to offer. Our meat is from local farms, our fish is landed on the North Devon Coast, mainly through small day boats and our free range egss are produced by Claire on a local farm at Blackmoor Gate.
Give Cars and Cabs a Rest
Avoid using the car, if only for the day. There are lots of stunning coastal or countryside walks which start directly from the hotel. Please ask Reception for suggestions and maps. At the Old Rectory we have Electric Vehicle charging points forour guests’ use.
Be Water Wise
Please use water wisely by:
- Making sure you turn taps off fully – please tell us about any dripping taps or leaks
- Only leaving towels in the bath/shower tray/basin if you would like them changed
- Not putting anything other than toilet paper in the loo (you will find a supply of sani-bags, if required, in the bathroom)
- Only putting as much water in the kettle in your room as you need
Reduce, Reuse, Recycle

Support Green Businesses
There are lots of local businesses on Exmoor trying to reduce their carbon footprints through the Green Tourism Scheme. Businesses are awarded Bronze, Silver and Gold for their efforts to be more sustainable. www.green-business.co.uk
